These quatrefoil copper and sterling silver stud earrings were originally created to accompany Simone's matching pendant necklace as part of a small collection of handmade quatrefoil jewellery designs released around 2014.
Like the matching pendant, the earrings are crafted from mechanically bonded sterling silver and copper using a process similar to gold-filled metal. Rather than a surface plating, the copper forms a genuine bonded outer layer over sterling silver beneath.
The earrings were carefully designed so the sterling silver sits comfortably against the skin while the warm copper surface faces outward. At this smaller scale, the copper takes on a soft rosy warmth that can almost resemble rose gold depending on the light, while still retaining the richer organic character unique to copper.
The simple quatrefoil shape gives the earrings a clean architectural feel, allowing the warm colour and softly reflective finish to become the focus. Their compact size makes them especially wearable for everyday styling while still feeling individual and distinctive.
When Simone rediscovered these earrings years later alongside the matching pendant, they had aged surprisingly well in storage with only light polishing and fresh Renaissance wax required. The wax coating helps slow natural tarnishing, although as with all copper jewellery, some surface change over time is inevitable and occasional polishing is recommended.
The earrings are finished with sterling silver posts and sterling silver earring backs for comfortable everyday wear.
