Big studio clean up

Jewellery workshop before being cleaned up.

I've been very badly struggling to get my motivation for work back this year - especially in relation to getting back out into the studio to make jewellery.

It often takes me some time to rest up and pull myself together again after the end of year craziness, but this year it seems to have been even harder than normal.

I realised part of the problem was that the studio was a dusty disaster of disorganisation, grime and general chaos after working so hard late last year. The photo to the left doesn't really do justice to how unhealthily dirty the space was, with every surface covered in dust and grime from working and many also coated with chemical residues.

So last week I decided it was time to get stuck into it. It took three days of sweeping, scrubbing, washing and vacuuming, but finally the job is done!

Here are my 'after' photos of the outcome:

Jewellery workshop before after cleaned up.
Jewellery workshop after being meticulously cleaned!

Jewellery bench.
Jewellery bench in a perfectly clean and organised state (for a change!).

Jewellery workshop table.
One of my work surfaces not covered in mess - with some lovely Inaluxe artwork on the wall.

Jewellery workshop sink.
The workshop sink now no longer covered in chemical residues and stains.

Hopefully this frenzy of cleaning up will finally inspire me to get back to my bench to catch up with jewellery making and to start thinking about some new designs.
